There is a TV commercial making the rounds that features a youngboy commenting on his father’s suggestion that he consider amedical career. The young boy makes the comment that withoutteachers, where would doctors come from?

The Brookhaven / Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce at itsannual banquet Thursday night recognized one of our area’sdedicated teachers as the Teacher of the Year — Dot McClendon ofWest Lincoln School. She is a 38-year veteran of both the LincolnCounty and the Brookhaven school systems.

We have known Mrs. McClendon for many of those years and canthink of no better choice. She is one of those special teachers whoinspires her students to reach for the stars and perform at ahigher level.

We salute Mrs. McClendon and all of our area school teachers fortheir dedication and their hard work. The young man in thecommercial is absolutely correct, teachers are the ones who producedoctors.
