Lady Bears take third place

The West Lincoln Lady Bears finished third in the Saturday’s OleBrook Softball Tournament at the Brookhaven Sports Complex.
The West Lincoln Lady Bears finished third in the Saturday’s OleBrook Softball Tournament at the Brookhaven Sports Complex. WestLincoln fell to Brookhaven 12-2 in the semifinals.
In the earlier games, West Lincoln dumped North Pike 19-8 in theopener, got past Florence 8-7 and fell to eventual winner Pearl20-9 in the third game.
Brookhaven 12, West Lincoln 2
In its final game, West Lincoln got a home run fromChasity Avants. Lauren Smith and Dana King collected two singlesapiece. Hanna Roberts doubled. Hitting safely were JenniferRichardson, Lyndsay Franklin, Brittnee Smith, Rebecca Wallace andAmber Delaune.
Pearl 20, West Lincoln 9
The third game saw the Lady Bears led by Avants’ threesingles. King tripled. Singling were Roberts, Lauren Smith,Richardson, Holli Bass, Franklin, Christy Lindigrin, Wallace andDelaune.
West Lincoln 8, Florence 7
Second-game action saw Lauren Smith paced West Lincolnwith a triple and a single. Also singling were Roberts, King,Richardson, Avants, Bass, Franklin and BritneyPhillips.
West Lincoln 19, North Pike 8
In the opener, Richardson homered and singled twice forthe Lady Bears. Wallace tripled and singled twice. Bass, BritneeSmith and King collected three singles apiece. Hitting safely wereLindigrin and Franklin.
West Lincoln visits North Pike Tuesday for two games.The junior varsity begins at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity at7.
Saturday, West Lincoln (Division 7-1A runner up) travelsto Puckett for the first round of the Class 1A South Mississippistate softball playoffs. The first game of the best of three seriesbegins at 1 p.m.
