Bogue Chitto Bobcats overpower W. Lincoln 45-6

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats had been through twoweeks of heartache and disappointment and they needed a winbadly.
BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats had been through twoweeks of heartache and disappointment and they needed a win badly.Friday night, the Bobcats put it all behind them and posted alopsided 45-6 Division 7-1A win over the visiting West LincolnBears at Troy Smith Field.
“We’re glad it’s over,” said Bogue Chitto head coach Carl Coleafter the game. “It’s an important ball game. It gives us a chanceto make our goals. The guys gave a great effort.”
The first Bogue Chitto score of the game came when Bobcat CodyWallace intercepted a Cody Mitchell pass at the Bogue Chitto 5-yardline and returned it to the 37 to set up the first scoring drive.Junior fullback Dominique Addison scored on a 14-yard run followedby a two-point conversion run by John Wallace to give the Bobcatsan 8-0 lead with 5:01 left in the first quarter.
Bogue Chitto struck again two minutes later following afumble-recovery by Addison at the Bears 29. Senior tailback ElliottLowe scored his first of two TDs on a run of 20 yards. Addison’sPAT kick failed and Bogue Chitto increased its lead to 14-0 overWest Lincoln with 3:52 left in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Bogue Chitto scored its third TD of thegame on a one yard burst by quarterback Jacob Leggett with 9:07left. The PAT kick failed and the Bobcats jumped out to a 26-0 leadover the Bears.
At the 7:10 mark in the second quarter, Lowe scored his secondtouchdown of the game from 16 yards out. The run for two pointsfailed and the Bobcats were commanding a 29-0 lead over theBears.
West Lincoln got on the scoreboard at the 4:34 mark in thesecond quarter when fullback Stacy Fells broke loose for anine-yard touchdown. West Lincoln’s Matt Wallace recovered a Bobcatfumble at the Bogue Chitto 32 to set up the drive. The kick failedand Bogue Chitto maintained a 29-6 edge.
At the 1:57 mark in the second quarter, Bogue Chitto quarterbackJacob Leggett connected to Scott Edwards for a 19-yard touchdown.Addison’s kick was good and at the half, the Bobcats led 33-6.
“West Lincoln made some turnovers early,” Cole said.
Third-quarter action saw junior wide receiver Denard Fergusonbreak free for a 42-yard run and score. The kick failed and BogueChitto increased its lead to 39-6.
In the fourth quarter, freshman fullback David Adams recordedthe final Bobcat TD on an eight-yard run. The PAT kick failed asBogue Chitto finished with a 45-6 win.
“We’re young and inexperienced,” said West Lincoln head coachDon Holston. “We have to learn to regroup.”
West Lincoln got a break in the early minutes of the firstquarter when Bogue Chitto fumbled a punt and LeKeith Terrell ofWest Lincoln recovered it at the Bobcat 37-yard line. The Bearsdrove to the five when Mitchell’s pass was intercepted by CodyWallace.
The leading rusher for Bogue Chitto was David Spann with 5rushes for 75 yards. Lowe rushed 6 times for 60 yards. Rushing 5times for 52 yards was Addison. Ferguson recorded 50 yards on 2rushes. Adams carried 5 times for 25 yards.
West Lincoln got 36 yards on 6 carries from Stacy Fells. Theywre minus senior quarterback Corey Easley who sustained a brokenbone in his ankle last week.
Jacob Leggett completed 3 of 4 passes for 76 yards for BogueChitto. Edwards made 2 catches for 53 yards and Cody Leggett caughta pass for 23 yards.
Mitchell led the Bear’s air show and completed 7 of 12 passesfor 74 yards and was intercepted once. Kalis Fells caught 3 passesfor 51 yards. Adam Rushing made two catches for 21 yards.
Defensively, junior linebacker John Wallace and Fergusonled Bogue Chitto with 3 tackles apiece. Cody Wallace intercepted apass. Addison recovered two fumbles.
West Lincoln (1-2) entertains the St. Andrew’s juniorvarsity Thursday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m. St. Andrew’s handedSt. Aloysius an 11-7 beating last Friday.
Bogue Chitto (1-2) is on the road at Puckett Fridaynight. Puckett upset Class 2A Loyd Star 14-6 lastFriday.
