Services for Flora Greer Mitchell of Rolling Fork are 10 a.m.,Monday, June 10, at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork withburial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookhaven. at 2 p.m.
Visitation is Sunday, July 9, from 6-9 p.m. at Glenwood FuneralHome.
Mrs. Mitchell, 75, died Friday, July 7, 2000, of heart failureat Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was born inBrookhaven.
She was a retired and longtime Daily Leader employee where sheset operated typesetting machinery from the days of hot metalLinotype machines in the 1950s to the transition to offset printingand the early days of typesetting computers in the late 1980s.
“Flo was a vital member of our production staff, who oversaw thetypesetting of the newspaper each day,” said retired PublisherCharles R. Jacobs. “No matter what the deadline, Flo always had asmile and went the extra mile to ensure the paper was ready forpress time.”
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are her sons, Noah L. Mitchell of Madison; Greer D.Mitchell of Brandon; her daughters, Jan Hays of Rolling Fork; hernephew, James Griffin of Brookhaven; her nieces, Mae Wentworth ofMeadville; Faye McKey of Brookhaven; and five grandchildren.
