Funeral Services for William LaRue Byrd of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Monday, July 21, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Services.

Mr. Byrd, 53, died July 20, 2014, at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1961, to Jerry Byrd and Betty Douglas Byrd.

He was co-owner of Byrd Lumber Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Brookhaven. He was a member of Milton West Sunday School class, and he loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He was a beloved friend to many and loved to laugh.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, William and Aline Byrd and Hollice and Jewel Douglas.

Survivors are his parents; son, William Taylor Byrd and wife, Lindsey; daughters, Holly Marie Byrd, Jeri Allison Byrd; sisters, Sherry Powell and husband, Ken, Stacy Clanton and husband, Bruce; two grandchildren, Liam LaRue Byrd and Wolfgang Baron Anders Arnett; nieces and nephew, Joy and Jamison Powell and Missy Clanton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at First Bank of Brookhaven to The William LaRue Byrd Scholarship Foundation providing scholarships for deserving students at Brookhaven Academy or First Baptist Church of Brookhaven Building Fund.
