Funeral Services for Pearl B. Ferrell of Brookhaven are 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at New Prospect Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, July 22, 2014, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 849 Natchez Drive.

Mrs. Ferrell, 88, died July 20, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 26, 1925, in Rome, Georgia to Lon and Addie Battles of Gadsden, Alabama.

Mrs. Ferrell worked in the medical community of Brookhaven for over 30 years. Her first job was making parachutes for the military in World War II. She also volunteered at the hospital as well as being involved in numerous mission endeavors.

Gardening was another passion of hers. She was noted for being devoted to her family and her church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George Rabb Ferrell; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors are her sons, Larry Ferrell and wife, Mildred, of Magee, Lonnie Eugene Ferrell and wife, Judy, of Brookhaven, Gerald Keith Ferrell and wife, Sherry, of Hammond, Louisiana; her daughter, Glenda F. Robinson and husband, Danny, of Brookhaven; her brother, Homer Battles of Gadsden, Alabama; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
