DYB 12-year-old Majors in state tournament; Dr. Lott tournament action resumes Monday

Dr. A.L. Lott coach-pitch and Little League championship games will resume Monday after a rain delay.

In coach-pitch action, Williams Mortuary will take on Smith 84E starting at 6 p.m. Smith 84E is currently undefeated in the tournament. If a second game is needed, it will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

In Little League action, Magnolia Graphics is also undefeated in tournament play and will battle Lilly Hill beginning at 6 p.m. If a second game is needed, it will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

These games were originally scheduled to conclude Friday night, but due to rain Friday and a possible chance of rain Saturday, play was pushed to Monday.

In other tournament action at the Dr. Lott fields, the girls’ softball league were supposed to start tournament action Saturday, but League officials elected to withhold play until next weekend. Eight teams will be involved in this tournament.

Pony League teams are scheduled to begin their tournament quest Monday or Tuesday for the tournament championship.

In Dixie Youth action,  the Lincoln County 12-year-old American Majors All-Stars have started their quest for a state championship as they are participating in the Dixie Youth Majors State Tournament at Dean Griner Dixie Youth complex in Columbia.

Joining Lincoln County in the tournament are Purvis B-team, Lawrence County, Hattiesburg, McComb Nationals, Yazoo City, Purvis A-team, Humphreys County, Moss Point, Columbia and Franklin County.

These teams were originally scheduled to begin play last Friday, but due to rain, the games were postponed until Saturday. If the weather permitted, the teams would hopefully get caught up as the state tournament is scheduled to conclude Tuesday.
