Choctaw County knocks off Wesson

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras and the Choctaw County Lady Chargers faced each other in the first round of Region 3A playoffs.

The Lady Cobras traveled to Ackerman Thursday night for Game One and were defeated by the Lady Chargers with a final score of 5-0.

In Game Two at Wesson, the Lady Cobras return home with high hopes winning the series in front of the their softball fans but suffered a disappointing 4-1 loss to the Lady Chargers of Choctaw County Friday night.

Choctaw County 5, Wesson 0 

The Lady Cobras managed to only get two hits off Choctaw County’s pitcher, Emily Robinson, who averaged four strikeouts and no walks.

Kayla Britt and Bailey Middleton hit one single each but were unable to advance to home plate because of the aggressive fielding of the Lady Chargers.

Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Carrie McSweyn, had one strikeout and three walks.

Second baseman Brooke Jones was a top fielder that averaged five outs. Left fielder Amber Brinson also protected the outfield grabbing three outs.

Choctaw County 4, Wesson 1 

The Lady Cobras were defeated on their home field in the second game of playoffs with a final score of 4-1.

The Lady Cobras got four hits off of the Lady Chargers including a solo home run by Sabria Green. Other Wesson hitters were Kayla Britt- single and double and Sarah Robinson- single.

Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Carrie McSweyn, had one strikeout, one walk, and fielded five outs.

Second baseman Brooke Jones and shortstop Bailey Middleton, both fielded four outs each. Center fielder Aireyona Vaughn also protected the outfield with three outs.

Choctaw County’s pitcher, Sarah Moss, and close out pitcher Emily Robinson both averaged one strikeout apiece.

The Lady Chargers were aggressive in the field and managed to keep the Lady Cobras from adding more runs on the scoreboard.
