MERIDIAN – The West Lincoln Bears netters saw their season come to an end Monday after falling to Clarkdale Bulldogs 5-2 in tennis action.

West Lincoln’s Katy and Kara Clark captured a victory in the No. 1 Girls Doubles match winning 6-1, 6-1 over Clardale.

The Bears second win came for Tay Applewhite and Gage Butler in the No. 1 Boys Doubles contest. They won 5-7, 6-3, 11-8.

In the other matches, Matthew Allred fell in Boys singles action 4-6, 3-6. In girls singles, Caroline Laird lost 2-6, 2-6.

In No. 2 Boys Doubles, Kodie Carroll and Austin Patt fell 0-6, 3-6. In Girls No. 2 Doubles, Madison Franklin and Carlie Smith were defeated 3-6, 3-6. In Mixed Doubles action, Sebasatian Harrell and Laura Leigh Dunaway lost 2-6, 1-6.

Clarkdale advances to the 2A South State championship and will travel to Brookhaven to take on the Loyd Star Hornets today at the City Courts, starting at 4 p.m.
