The West Lincoln Bears captured the Region 7-2A Golf Tournament championship at the Brookhaven Country Club, led by match medalist Jonah King who shot par 84.

King, along with Trace Williams, 87; Jeremy Burns 89; Daniel Spears 95 and Adam Martinez 115; paced West Lincoln’s winning total. The Bears will compete in the Class 2A State Tournament, April 30, which will be held at the Natchez Trace Golf Club in Saltillo.

West Lincoln, coached by Jeff King, posted a winning team score of 355, to beat runner-up Loyd Star’s 394. Bassfield was third at 418 and Enterprise fourth at 444.

Sawyer Norton of Loyd Star finished second in the Medalist and will advance to the State Tournament.

In girls action,  the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes won the girls title. Natchez Cathedral finished in second place.

The West Lincoln Lady Bears took third place with the score of 217, Loyd Star was fourth at 218. Enterprise claimed fifth place with 237 and Bassfield finished last with a score of 242.

St. Aloysius and Cathedral both advance to the state tournament, which will held at Kirkwood National Golf Course in Holly Springs, April 28.

Anna Fletcher of St. Aloysius was the Medalist and Laura Phillips of St. Aloysius placed second.
