The Loyd Star Lady Hornets finished their Region 7-2A softball race undefeated as they knocked off the Enterprise Lady Jackets 6-1 Thursday night at Jan Smith-Delaughter Field.

In late Tuesday action, the Lady Hornets crushed the Bassfield Lady Yellowjackets 13-0.

Loyd Star (17-2, 8-0) resumes action Monday as they host the Brookhaven Lady Panthers. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.

Loyd Star 6, Enterprise 1 

The Lady Hornets and Lady Jackets provided a good defensive ball game for the softball fans as the contest remained close after two innings of action at 2-1.

Loyd Star managed to increase their lead in the third and fourth inning by two runs apiece to help secure the win at 6-1.

Mackenzie Smith was the winning pitcher for the Lady Hornets with three strikeouts and one walk.

Carlee Nations suffered the setback for Enterprise with one strikeout and two walks. Kalyn Chemin (2K, 1BB) also saw some action in relief.

Haley Nations and Jana Nations were the top hitters for the Lady Jackets with a single apiece.

Lexie Butler sparked the Lady Hornets with a home run, a double and a single. Ali Gartman fueled the flames with a home run. Megan Norton contributed a double. Raigan Smith ripped a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Brooks Rushing and Madison Jones.

In junior varsity action, Loyd Star surpassed Enterprise 3-0.

Kaleigh Smith was the offensive leader for the Lady Hornets with two singles. Lesley Walker and Abby Thomas hit safely.

Loyd Star 13, Bassfield 0 

Gartman dominated the pitcher circle for the Lady Hornets collecting eight strikeouts and only gave up two walks against Bassfield.

Raigan Smith powered Loyd Star at the plate with a home run and a single. Megan Norton provided a triple and a single. Abigail Thornton and Kelsie McCullough contributed a pair of singles. Gartman added a double and a single. Butler hit a triple. Johnna Norman and Madison Jones had a single apiece.

In JV action,  The Lady Hornets blanked Bassfield 13-0.

Marley Poole paced Loyd Star at the plate with a triple. Lesley Walker and Abby Thomas provided a single each.
