Local players selected for the All-Lincoln Coaches Team

The Lincoln County coaches from Bogue Chitto, Enterprise, Loyd Star and West Lincoln have announced their 2013-2014 All-Lincoln County Coaches Basketball Team.

In girls’ basketball, senior guard Mattie Avants of Bogue Chitto was selected as the Most Valuable Player. Avants averaged 10.4 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and three assists on the season. The Lady Cats finished the season with a 25-8 recorded overall, while finishing 9-3 in the Region 7-1A race.

Other members selected from Bogue Chitto’s basketball team were Christian Black and Zariah Matthews.

From the Lady Hornets’ squad were Marcey Givens, Jordan Shelby and Hannah Dickerson.

From the Lady Bears’, Destiny Allen and Hanna Moak where named. Megan Rippy and Alissa Barlow were selected for the Lady Jackets.

On the boys’ basketball team,  the coaches selected junior guard Duane Marshall of West Lincoln as the Most Valuable Player.

Marshall averaged 20.2 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals per game. West Lincoln finished the 2013-14 season with a 24-6 record and went undefeated (10-0) in their first year as Region 7-2A members.

Ronnie Edwards and Sam Bivens were also selected from the Bears’ basketball team.

From the Loyd Star Hornets, Edrick Alsworth, Caleb Yarborough and Levi Redd received honors.

Dennis Rogers and Damien Terrell were selected from the Bogue Chitto Bobcats. From Enterprise’s ball club, John Gray and Forest Scott, were selected.
