Peavey shines for Alcorn State

Brookhaven-native Scottie Peavey had a career moment last Saturday afternoon; the Alcorn State junior hit three home runs and accounted for eight RBI’s in a 18-14 loss to Alabama A&M.

In spite of the loss, Peavey still shined. The 2011 Ole Brook graduate collected a grand slam home run in the process of his three long shots.

“It was a game where I saw the ball really good and had my timing down right,” said Peavey, who is Alcorn State’s top hitter and one of the SWAC’s top newcomers.

The big day for Peavey was also a career one. It was the first time he hit three home runs in a contest.

“I’ve hit two in one game before but never three until now,” added Peavey.

Peavey has hit in every park he’s played in this season, from Arizona to Oklahoma State and SEC powers Alabama and Missouri.

“We play a lot of road games,” said Peavey. “Playing in the SEC parks is fun. I really enjoyed playing at Alabama and Oklahoma State, but I’m looking to forward to games we have later this month at Mississippi State and LSU.”

For Peavey, he’s hoping his hit streak continues. He’s hit safely in the last 12 games and he’s looking to add to that streak with a few more homers as well.
