Lady Bears split games in tourney

MCCOMB – The West Lincoln Lady Bears bounced back from a season-opening, 15-9 loss to Lawrence County and defeated host McComb 7-0 Saturday in the McComb Classic.

Barri Rogers (1K, 3BB) was the winning pitcher for Lawrence County. Heather Moak (0K, 2BB) was charged with the loss.

Lawrence County, coached by Meleah Howard, finished with 16 hits, led by Jamie Martin and Callie Fortenberry who had 3 hits apiece. Lexie Johnson, Alexsundria Thomas and Madison Hyde had a double and a single apiece. Jasmin Thomas doubled. Barri Rogers, Cierra Horton and Alyssa Pendergrass singled.

The Bears got a home run and a single apiece from Layton and Bentley Sills. Brianna Fauver, Micah Redd and Moak singled twice. Karley Smith and Alli Mullins hit safely for Coach Andrew Redd’s team.

W. Lincoln 7, McComb 0

Moak (1K, 1BB) pitched the shutout win over McComb. Leyton Terrell (0K, 1BB) took the loss.

Bentley Sills and Moak both homered in the victory. Addie Spring, Anna Brook Davis, Smith and Redd singled as the Bears broke a scoreless duel with a 3-run sixth.

Shatonia Coney and Terrell singled for McComb.
